Democratic Nominee Obama?

These last few days, I've seen a lot of talk of Obama becoming the 2008 democratic nominee for President. I doubt that he will beat Hillary Clinton out of it, but considering the spike Tradesports.com is showing in his odds, I have to consider it...

Now 10 cents on the dollar doesn't really compare to Hillary's 49 cents, but that spike looks like it's still going places. So, if Obama beats Clinton, what does that mean in the long run?

Well, for one thing, it means a better chance the presidency goes to the democrats. I'm not saying Hillary CAN'T win, but Obama just doesn't inspire the intense hatred in conservatives that Hillary does - and that means less conservative voter turnout.

For another thing, it means a relative political newbie might be president - and that probably means less spending. Politicians get special interests attached to them as they swim along in the political waters of DC. Obama hasn't had the time to nurish the lampreys to the multitude and size Clinton has. This, by the way, is also why I favor term limits.

And for a final thing, Obama may easily be a less effective president than Clinton, which is ALWAYS a good thing! An effective president usually builds up government interventions, increases funds to his pet projects and increases the burden of the Americans he's "saving" with his decisions. Give me a president who inspires gridlock ANYTIME!

On the negative side, he's pro universal preschool, anti home schooling and pro gun control.

Overall, I don't like him, but at least he'd be better than Clinton.
